step x step layout with Mahlin

Posted on

Hello everyone!

This is Mahlin coming to you from a dark and coldSweden..Australia has summer and we up north is getting used to winter, but no snow yet.

I will show you a page with an idea of how to use your beautiful Manor House flowers in another way than the usual..

So this is the page  I´ll be showing you…

Manorhouse Creations Materials Used:

MHC Marguerite – colourfuls, MHC Romance – Devoted

Materials Other: 2 smaller photos, white cardstock, Shimmerz Coloringz- Lime in da coconut and Mandarin mai tai, Distress stains – Broken China, October Afternoon sprinkers, American Crafts  thickers fantastic and flat, gesso,  corrugated paper.

Step 1 –  Start off with taking one of your colourful flowers apart. It´s a bit tricky because they are wellmade with lots of glue, but with some patience, you´ll get there.

Deconstruct the whole flower..

Step 2 – You´ll get two strips of pretty fabric, adhere them to your cardstock, horizontal. I used my sewing machine to really get them fastened .

Step 3 – Then add photos, I used two smaller photos but this is, of course, up to you and what works for your creativity,  also adding a torn strip of corrugated paper. I used my sewing machine here aswell.

Step 4 – I like working with different fonts and sizes. I used four different fonts. One smaller in plain white to contrast the craft and pick up the white from the background.  A printed thicker, I think the little dots connect with the mist I will add later. And then the fun old vintage one. I choose a green questionmark to pick up the green colour in the flowers.

Step 5 – Time to add the flowers. I placed four flowers, 2 printed and 2 white in a cluster next to my photos.

Step 6 – This step is where my style really steps in. I love paint, mist and being a bit messy. So I splashed some mist. The  four colours where carefully picked to match the fabric in the Marguerite flowers.

Step 7 -  I can´t help but adding some gesso here and there. Gesso is great to tone down the mist if you think it´s to bright . Also adding some on your flowers will bring the whole design together.

Step 8 – Last  but not least.. You haven´t used  all the parts of the deconstructed flower yet.  The flowercenter is a great embellishment. I put the white stems in the cluster of flowers to add some balance and direction to my cluster. The bling parts, I took a needle and made 5 random holes in my cardstock and just stuck the pearls in each hole, adhering on the back.

This is really fun and easy and I hope you enjoy!
