Step by Step layout from Gerry

Hello everyone!

It`s Gerry here today with my step x step layout for March. I chose working with beautiful spring colors. “My Private Happiness” collection combined with gorgeous new MHC flowers makes the perfect combination.

And this is my layout that I`m going to show you how to create. You understand it`ll be a long post today so please take your time :-)

Flowers I used:

STEP 1
Love creating on white card stock because it gives me a lot of possibilities to play with the background. In this case I chose two colors paint. The yellow was misted but as you can see I have only tiny splashes of  blue here and there . And I added splashes of yellow as well.

STEP 2

One of the pattern papers in “My Private Happiness” has a beautiful lattice. Well I couldn`t just “leave” it and I decided to fussy cut it and use it on my background.

STEP 3

In the middle of the layout I masked those bricks with modeling paste. When it was dry I noticed I didn`t achieve the dimension I wanted so I decided to add something more…..and I added puffy paint.

N.B. Before I added the puffy paint I outlined the “bricks” with black fine liner.

If you look carefully the photo half of the masking is only with modeling paste and the other half is with puffy paint. I took that photo especially to show you the difference :-)

STEP 4

  • Firstly, I distressed the edges of the card stock.
  • Secondly, I cut out flourish from the pattern paper.
  • I also cut out strips from the pattern paper so I can frame “my bricks”
  • Then I placed my two photos on the left side just to see how it`d look like
  • I was satisfied and I attached  1. the “frame” 2. the photos and 3. the flourish

STEP 5

  • Before I began with the flowers I used punched border to decorate both the flourish above and my photos.
  • I adhered the title “Easter” on the punched border.
  • Now it was time to use one of the big flowers (“Frosting”) – I needed the pink one so I tore/cut it in parts.
  • Just for your information what I tried to create with those punched borders was little balconies :-) with flowers and eggs peeking out of the balcony.

All the petals were used to decorate the cut-out flourishes.

STEP 6

Now it`s time for the colorful Sprinkles. I chose 6 flowers in total

  •  Three to decorate this cute basket (on the right side of the photos) and three for the left side of the photos.
  • N.B. The yellow flower on the right and the green on the left side were cut into two!!!

STEP 7

  • The yellow and green halves I used to decorate my other cute basket.
  • I also added the Cutie Pie flower in the middle.
  • Then I adhered the year “2011″

STEP 8

As a final touch to the flowers I added one more Cutie Pie flower on the very left side.

STEP 9

My last step was to add some cut out embellishments – bird, swirls, etc.

Altering flowers.

Hope you are having a great day!  Today, our DT girls are going to show you how easy it is to alter some of our flowers . Let’s have a look and see what they’ve come up with. Hope it inspires you.

MONIKA has used misting and layering.

Monika has layered the blossoms with the Plain Janes and misted some of the other flowers to make some gorgeous new colours.

MORAG had very subtly re-coloured some of our flowers to make them not so bright and more vinatge-looking. Love the white touches on the Taneisha flower.

Simple and oh so pretty…

Hi, and welcome, once again to our blog.

Rae Cooper has created this cute little hair clip and bangle to share with us today. These little beauties are very quick, and simple to make, and are just so pretty every little girl ( and not so little girl)  in your life is going to want them.

Which is your favourite?

Hi again! So our new mini release is out now and should be hitting the stores very soon.  So we’d like to know, which are your favourites? These soft velvety touch flowers are so easy to work with at such a great size of 5cm in diameter and also nice and flat so the petals can easily be layered with other flowers. We know you’ll love the quality and feel of these. Lets start with a beautiful layout from MELINDA and she has used the ‘Carnivale’ pack and also altered some of our flowers into a stunning red.

The stars of the show….the flowers

Hi everyone! Today we asked our DT to make the flowers that stars of the show by using a white background for their layout and using the flowers as the main design feature. have a look at what they’ve done.

Guest Designer – Jasmine Shea

It is our absolute pleasure to welcome the incredibly talented JASMINE SHEA to the MHC Blog as this months guest designer.

We asked Jasmine to tell us a little about herself.

‘I am a mother and wife to 4 wonderful children and an equally wonderful husband who supports my “hobby” but just doesn’t “get it” .

I began my journey in Scrapbooking in 2006 when my friend Mel and I went along to a crop night organised by a kinder Mum.  And like all of us, I never looked back.  I have no idea what I would be doing now if we never went along.

I love this craft and I have been so blessed in the past 2 years to meet so many fabulous girls on-line, at retreats and also to be a part of some wonderful Design Teams.  My style has changed considerably over time and I love the challenge of finding new techniques and ideas to use on each page. At the moment I love using texture, stitching, paint and mists.  A page doesn’t feel complete unless I have used one of them.

“Stepping Out of the Box” for me, is creating pages about myself.  I don’t have a lot of self-confidence and I don’t particularly like photos of myself, although the more pages I create, the more I am becoming to enjoy it, just a tiny bit.  I am sure the children will love to look back one day and read about the person I was.

Jasmine has used some of our flowers, to create these wonderful layouts to share with us.

First up, this beautiful layout titled ‘All about marriage’, which tells of an adorable little conversation between her 2 children. Take note of how Jasmine has used the MHC packaging on her layout.

Altered flowers by Jo

Hello, and welcome once again to Manor House Creations blog.

Today we have a very special treat for you from our very own JOANNE BAIN.

Every layout Jo does is beautiful, but this one, I must say is a stand alone layout. The design, the colours, the photo, the whole package. Jo has also been very creative with her flowers here.

This is what she had to say

“I have pulled away the backing layer petals leaving only the top layer petal of some of the SPRINKLES flowers to allow for a smaller petite flower. I re-coloured the CUTIE PIES using some white paint to fit with my colour theme. The FANTASY flower has been used as the base for my flower cluster”

Flowers Used -  Fantasy – Magic,  Sprinkles – Lime,  Sprinkles – Mauve , Cutie Pies – Lime.
