A video class with Jeni

Posted on

Welcome to Manor House Creations on youtube! It’s Jeni here and I thought for something a little different I’d make a video of my photo wallet gift created using Manor House products. First, Let me first tell you a little about the making of this video.

If you’re like me and don’t like your own voice on tape, that’s the first big hurdle when making a video. I don’t really sound like that do I? As always, it seems the first run through is always the best. But it’s not a good look when your dh who’s taping has your feet showing in the frame. lol What was he thinking! So you continue undaunted.

Eight goes later, after the neighbours’ dogs had a fight, the phone rang, the kids called loudly that you were ignoring their hunger, you stumble over your words, your dh sneezes, you call a bone folder a boning knife… you laugh at the absurdity and you finally finish! LOL.

I hope you enjoy my video and have a fun time creating your own photo wallet. It makes a great gift to keep all those little pics.

Watch “Manor House Creations” on YouTube here.

 Here are few photos too.

Photo Wallet by Jeni O’Connor

Products:  Sprinkles, Plain Jane, Grandma’s Garden.

I recycled the character from the World Children’s Fund packaging.

The finished photo wallet.

Thanks so much for looking. Hope you enjoyed our Manor House Creations video.

A TSC kitchen share

Hi everyone! As you know, we are the Australian & New Zealand distributors for The ScrapCake. So we love to share some of the projects that Nerrida does for her Scrapcake Design Team position. Today, she has shared with us this gorgeous shopping list idea. I’d love this hanging on my fridge!

Lots of fussy-cutting here…

and some gorgeous MHC flowers….

It’s such a simple idea but brightens up any kitchen fridge. Nerrida just used an old shopping list and took the backing board off it, covered it and re-used the magnets off the back. How easy is that? You could give it a go.

Hope you enjoyed this inspiration and please remember to send your OTPs and layout in to designteam@manorhousecreations.com for us to share!

Some more colour inspiration

Hi, We hope you are having a fantastic weekend, wherevever you are. A few weeks ago, we showed you some lovely creations from  our designers, featuring the colours ‘Apricot, blue, brown and green’. (you can see them HERE if you missed them) Well, today, we have a few more to share with you.

Firsty, the very talented JOANNE has created this layout, the first word that came to mind when I saw this was STUNNING…  What else can you say?

Layout by Joanne Bain

LINDA has made this adorable card. The rustic look of the wood, and distressed papers is a wonderful background for the prettiness of the ‘Shimmers’ flower. And  aren’t the little blossom/button flowers cute.

Card by Linda Langes

Products used: MHC flowers-Shimmers, Blossoms.

And lastly, KAREN has this ‘way too cute’ layout to share with us.

‘My niece was born in March, her and her Mummy and Daddy are living in the US at the moment, so we havnt met her yet. My sister in law sent us this adorable photo of her, so I decided to make this layout, and frame it and send it to them as a gift’.

I removed the outer petals of the ‘Hope’ flower, and just used the smaller petals below. ( Ive kept the larger ones to use on another layout later)

Products used: MHC flowers: Fairy floss-soft blue, Wishes-Hope.

I hope we have inspired you today, and remember, we love to see what you create using our flowers, so if you would like to be featured on our blog, please send us your layouts using MHC flowers to designteam@manorhousecreations.com

Manor House features Flying Unicorn -Week 4

Posted on

Welcome! This is week 4, and our final week  in our series of sponsorship of Flying Unicorn. Their Flower Fantasy celebrations have been going on over at Flying Unicorn  http://flyingunicornforums.com/photos.html for the month of May, to celebrate the coming of the Northern Spring.

From the Flying Unicorn, “The Flying Unicorn is a US based online scrapbook store and kit club that not only carries many of the products you know and love, but also specializes in one of a kind, hard to find papers and products.”

“Manor House has joined with The Flying Unicorn to host a Flower Fantasy during the entire month of May and each week we’ll be posting a challenge in the Flying Unicorn Forums featuring flowers, lots of flowers!  Our creative team and the Manor House creative team will share example projects to inspire your creativity and get you going on the challenges.  Every week a winner will be randomly selected from the challenge entries to win a RAK of Manor House flowers!  How cool is that?”

***

This week brings the creative spotlight onto the world of tags.  Aren’t tags such wonderfully versatile art pieces. They can be used as a card, they’re great for journalling on a scrapbooking layout, or just as an embellishment for your page. I know you’ll enjoy the collective creative works from Manor House’s Linda Langes and the team from Flying Unicorn.

First up are two from the lovely Linda Langes. Her first tag is soft and pretty with a touch of bling, in the light pinks and blues and greens.

Linda’s second tag is bright and playful. Perfect for the Party Time flowers.

Frank Garcia  http://magicscrapbook.blogspot.ca/ a member of the Creative Team at Flying Unicorn has created two lovely tags for this week’s challenge.

Here are Frank’s fabulous tags. His first one is in the striking masculine tones of yellow and brown. He has spritz the blooms to match perfectly.

Tag by Frank Garcia

Frank says, “Working with Manor House flowers has been a complete fun experience. These flowers are so versatile and great to ink, mist and distress. For the first tag I misted some of the wonderful Plain Jane flowers as well as a gorgeous Shimmers in snow with some gold glimmer mist, its amazing how well these lovely flowers absorb color, so amazing!”

Product: Plain Jane, Shimmers.

Frank’s second tag, using soft colours of pinks and purple has a gentle ethereal feel to it.

Tag by Frank Garcia.

From Frank,” For my second tag I used a more purple color palette with some darker colors, so to add a bit of pop I used some of the beautiful sprinkles flowers in pink and a gorgeous Country Lane flower in purple, really beautiful flowers indeed!”

Products: Sprinkes, Country Lane

Maggi Harding http://scraptravelbark.blogspot.ca/ PR Director from Flying Unicorn, has created two beautiful tags for this week’s challenge. Her first one, is so fresh and light in stunning lime elements.

“Joy” tag by Maggi Harding

From Maggi, “I’ve had a real garden in my scraproom this month with all the beautiful Manor House flowers I received! On this first tag I used the sweet Sprinkles flower in lime, they are the perfect size for tags and go perfectly with the Scrapcake My Private Happiness collection that I chose.  It’s a simple pocket tag, I just fussy cut the scalloped edge and attached that to a tag I cut from another paper making a pocket to hold one of the precut tags in the collection.  The smaller tag is the perfect size to hold a gift card and slip into the pocket.”

Products: Sprinkles- lime.  The Scrap Cake: My Private Happiness.

Maggi’s second tag is truly inspirational. I just adore the way she has incorporated the stamped images with her pp and matched her Manor House flowers so beautifully.

Tag by Maggi Harding.

Maggi says, “I also used the Sprinkles flowers on my 2nd tag but this time I dyed them black and copper using alcohol ink so that the flowers would match my papers. The fun thing for me about this tag is that I stamped and embossed the Chinese characters that you see and they spell my given name, Margaret. I was named after an aunt and she traveled to China and brought back this stamp.”

Product: Sprinkles (misted)

From the Flying Unicorn Creative team, “Thank you Manor House for sharing your beautiful blooms with the Creative Team at the Flying Unicorn!”

*****
We want to thank Alda and the Creative Team from Flying Unicorn for their wonderful creations using Manor House products throughout the month of May and for sharing their inspirational talent. A special mention to Maggi Harding, PR director at Flying Unicorn for all her co-ordination of their Creative Team.

A Special Keepsake

Wendy Smith http://www.my-head-space.blogspot  one of our recent guest designers from Anna’s Craft Cupboard sent us this truly stunning multi-photo frame.

Wendy created the frame following a challenge from WOW (Words or Whatever) co-ordinator Sandra Staples. Wendy explains, ” I decided that I wanted to make a romantic piece that would co-ordinate with the colours and feel of our bedroom. I kind of have a shabby chic, red and white bedroom, with ornate mirrors, white bedhead and side tables and red and white decorative objects. I thought that doing a shadow box frame with photos of dh and it would then be able to be used a nice centre piece on our book shelf. “

We think Wendy wins the challenge!

“The MHC flowers were perfect. I misted a couple to co-ordinate, but otherwise, they were perfect!”

Products:  Romance – Sweetheart, Nikita (misted), Marguerite, Christmas Star (misted).

Thanks Wendy for your gorgeous display using Manor House flowers. I bet it looks stunning in your room.

What a fabulous keepsake to treasure.
