A scrappy weekend to all

Goodmorning, we do hope you are all having a fabulous weekend, no matter where you are. Maybe you are lucky enough to be having a creative, scrappy weekend, and if so, then we have the post for you. Our new design team girls have been hard at work, and have created some truly stunning projects to share with you today…

Elena has created a wonderful, mixed media style layout, and has given the flowers a soft shabby look, by randomly painting some GESSO over them.

This next, delightfully cute layout is from Yuka.

Well, we hope we have inspired you enough today, to drop the washing, and lawnmowing, and get into that scrap room and create.

Flowers for the boys

People usually tend to reserve flowers for girly layouts and cards only. But, who says that we cant use flowers on boy projects too. I personally have five children, four of which are boys, but flowery layouts are my absolute passion, and why would’nt they be, with all these beautiful MHC flowers available.  But there are only so many layouts I can create of my only daughter, before the boys start feeling left out, and start complaining, so I have had to learn how to combine my love of flowers, with my need to create  more masculine layouts.

Below, are some examples of ‘not so girly’ flowery layouts, featuring our gorgeous boys.

Karen has used this cute paper range, and created a summery, garden setting.

‘Sunshine and happiness’ Layout by Karen Shady

MHC products used: Sprinkles -cupcake mix, cutie pies-mauve (altered with spray ink), leaves-light green meduim.

Melinda has created a pretty pink layout, but, with the addition of touches of bold black, and a little grunge, she has managed to pull it off as a masculine layout.

‘So loved’ Layout by Melinda Thompson

MHC products used: Cutie Pies (misted black), Winter Song – Fireside Glow, Frosting, Blossoms, Morning glory.

Joanne’s very ‘boy’ layout, features some gorgeous big flowers, that Joanne has managed to blend so beautifully with the very masculine paper range, and embellishments.

‘Listen to your soul’ Layout by Joanne Bain

MHC flowers: Winter Song – Snowbird & Mittens.

So, there you have it. Flowers can be just as beautiful on a masculine layout, as they are on a pretty, girly layout. We hope we have inspired you to step out of the box, and try some flowers on your next boy layout.

DT Inspiration featuring ‘The Scrap Cake’

Hello, and welcome once again to our blog.

Today, we are excited to share with you some wonderful creations from our Design team, featuring the papers from The Scrap cake. Notice how perfectly our flowers match the colours of these papers.

Firstly, Karola has mixed a couple of different paper collections together, and created this wonderful, spring inspired layout of her daughter.

‘Live, love, inspire’ Layout by Karola Witczak

Products used: MHC flowers, Fantasy wishes & fairy dust, Fairy floss – lemon, Country lane lemon, Taneisha.

The Scrap cake papers: Spring awakening and My private happiness.

Next Alicia Barry has focused on the apricot tones in the The Scrap cake ‘Sweet childhood’ collection.

Alicia says ‘It can be hard to create layouts with boy’s in the photos using flowers. To achieve this, I used an orange and green colour combination. This coupled with the checked pattern in the Scrapcake papers gave it a boyish feel, which were then perfectly complimented with the ManorHouse Creations flowers’.

‘Love, cherish, adore’ Layout by Alicia Barry

Products used: MHC flowers,  Solitude, Idyllic – Oatmeal, Imagine – oatmeal, Leaves, Nikita, Christmas Star – snow, Petitie roses – orange, TSC Sweet childhood collection.

Next, Gwen has created this beautiful bright, summery layout about her best friend. She has chosen a mix of ‘Sweet childhood’ and ‘Summer city’ papers.Notice the hint of gesso to the tips of orange Jubilee flowers.
