I’m a happy, fun loving, Southern girl who lives in the Western North Carolina USA, mountains. I have two beautiful little boys who keep me running, they are 7 and 12. Cole is my younger and he’s Mr Energy. Will is my older son and he is disabled. Getting out of the house with him is a bit more challenging for me so I’m so blessed to be able to share my art with the world yet be at home with him. I live right next door to my best friend and sister, who also is a paper artist. We certainly are a dangerous pair at scrapbook expos. I have always participated in the arts in one form or the other, starting with pottery, then receiving my college degree in Jewellery/ Metal Production crafts and finally crossing over into paper after the birth of my first son. Art is my form of therapy and is an addiction that I love to share with others. I would describe my style as clean yet detailed. I love layers and have a great eye for colour and balance. I also love to bring a bit of metal into most of my work, hard to let my past not sneak into my projects.

Please feel free to check out more of my work at the following locations: Blog www.pinkcloudscrappers.blogspot.com, Pinterest : http://pinterest.com/pinkcloudscraps/lori-williams-work/

A flower of a different colour

Are you ready to take an inspiring trip through our Manor House garden today. Our designers have once again created some stunning pieces to share with you.

MHC have a huge variety of flowers, in just about every colour imaginable, but, even with so many to choose from, sometimes, you will find that you just dont have that ‘perfect’ coloured flower that you need. So, we thought we would show you just how easy it is to alter our flowers, ever so slightly, and very easily, to match any project, and any colour imaginable.

* * *

Firtly, Gwen has created a beautiful, heartfelt card, suitable for any occasion, and perfect for someone special. The pretty blooms frame the sentiment perfectly.

Gwen-FreeChoice-Beautifulcard

All our flowers take up ink so well, as you can see here, where Gwen has used Glimmer Glam to change the white ‘Ashlee’ bloom an impressive aqua colour. Notice how the blue edges of the Ashlee flower have given the flower a pretty, almost purple edge.

Karen is next, with a pair of pretty, shabby chic tags, made using the gorgeous Taniesha flowers. These flower sprays are just the perfect size for tags and cards.

DA blog post-april-karen shady

DA---MHC-yellow-tag

Karen has used just a little Gesso on the edge of the petals on both the yellow, and mauve Taniesha flowers, to give them a more ‘shabby’ look.

 We love these  2 adorably cute layouts by Nancy. Starring her 2 gorgeous babies.

nancy  1

Nancy has used blue paint to alter the  white flowers to match her layout. She simply put a small amount of blue paint into a spray bottle, and watered it down. Nancy said she was very pleasantly surprised at how well the paint took to the flowers. This is a very inexpensive alternative to buying ready made spray inks.

And, lastly, another beautiful mixed media layout by Elena. Elena is the queen of mixed media, and on this layout she has used lots of awesome paints and inks to completely change the look of her flowers.

ElenaLO

ElenaLO1

Elena has been very inventive here. She has removed the centres of some of the flowers, and added them as the centre of others, giving a pretty 2 toned look to the flowers.

Designer Inspiration

Our designers were given free reign, to create whatever they wanted, using whichever flowers and goodies they liked. They let their creative juices flow, and have come up with some stunning creations to share with you today.

* * *

Firstly, Heather, with a bold, and beautiful layout, about a cute little friend

Hello Cheeky 1

Heather shares a little about her layout, ‘I had a lot of fun with flowers and Dylusions sprays in this one. The two flowers on the left are their original colour while I sprayed the flower on the right turquoise to co-ordinate it with the sprays of ink. Spraying flowers to co-ordinate with your layouts opens up so many more options when designing a page. Dylusions tend to completely change the colour of the flower whereas other sprays will sometimes let some of the original colour show through which can produce beautiful results.’

Next, Karola has created this oh so pretty decorated egg. Wouldnt this make a wonderful Easter gift for someone special. A little late for this year, but, you have plently of time to get creating, and stock up for next year.

Heather has created this very clever and striking layout, telling what happens in a typical day in her life

16 hours

‘I wanted to do a layout about my typical day. I needed to incorporate a large number of photos so I started playing around with chipboard frames and assembled them in a grid pattern. Continuing with the chipboard theme I took some chipboard flourishes, decorated them with paint and liquid pearls then tucked them around my flower clusters. I thought the Manor House flowers worked perfectly to help frame the whole layout and to soften the grid pattern’.
