Family – Thoughts Wandering Collection

Hi , Sonia posting here today using the amazing Thoughts Wandering collection. One of the promises we made our girls is that when we moved house we would get a puppy. Well he is here and boy has he made his presence felt in a very short time! The girls have just fallen in love with Tyson and it’s fabulous to see a strong bond developing between them already. It might even give me an excuse to try more boyish pages!  For this layout I’ve used the reverse side of the ‘Postcards’ paper. Don’t forget to check out the reverse sides of all of the Manor House Creations papers as they are just a fabulous as the ‘fronts’!!

All Natural Beauty LO by Cathy

Posted on

Hi Everyone,

Cathy here, with a LO to share using the gorgeous new Beautiful You Collection.  I love this collection as it so soft and feminine and a perfect range if you are into fussy cutting some of your elements.

To create this LO I started with the reverse side of the Beautiful You-Fresh and New pp as my background which I altered with various mixed media techniques and washi tape accents.

MHC blog - All Natural Beauty

I love to fussy cut my pp’s to create elements.  Here I used the Beautiful You-So You paper, cutting out some of the beautiful rose accents and attaching them with foam dots to give them dimension.  I layered them under the new wooden garden gate embellishment.  I cut the gate into 2 parts to frame my photo and altered the pieces by coating with gesso, then randomly applying aged embossing enamel and a few splashes of glimmer mist.  Once dry I lightly stamped over the gates with a script stamp.

The country roses fit in perfectly with this range of pp’s.  To make them go further, I love to pull them apart into 2 sections which makes a lovely blossom and a sweet rose bud.

There is a title word on the Beautiful You-So You pp which I cut out and trimmed down from the word Beautiful to Beauty, to become part of my “All Natural Beauty” title.  I layered this with one of the new ornate frames – elegance white, which I cut in half lengthways.

The Beautiful You-Journal Sheet is so versatile.  The journal labels are a great to add journalling to your LO’s as well as being the perfect size for cardmaking.  I have used the pretty little butterfly label to frame my title words.

A lifetime is not enough layout with Nadia

Good morning :) Nadia here with you today and I am sharing my latest layout created for Manor House Creations!
“A Life Time…”

I started by applying some clear and white gesso on the background… I  then added some thick white gesso in a “t” direction

I added some strips of paper from some off cuts from other papers and some tissue tape and some canvas strips

I then built my layers using some gorgeous chipboard feathers and the Mayglo Pink flowers and Country Roses flowers from Manor House Creations.

A floral canvas by Nadia

Hello everyone. I hope this post find you well.
Every once in a while I get the urge to create something REALLY feminine. Something packed with flowers. And I must tell you Manor House Creations always fulfills that urge ! Their flowers come in ALL sizes and colours. I know when I look into my collection of their flowers I will always find something to match whatever project I am working on.
I combined my flowers with a GORGEOUS birdcage chipboard piece from Donna Salazar Designs and some other mists and colour from Donna’s collections too.
To start with, I applied thick Gesso with a palette knife too my background and allowed it to dry.
I then sprayed some Donna Salazar Designs Smooch Spritz Sprays.
While that was drying, I heat embossed the birdcage with Chiffon Embossing Powder and once everything was dry I adhered it to the middle of the canvas.
Then I chose 3 vines from Manor House Creations, in Pink, Teal and White and overlapped them to create body and depth.
I also used 2 crochet butterflies from Manor House Creations and coloured them slightly with some ink.

MELINDA THOMPSON

* * *

We are so excited to have her back! I think she was probably our mixed media queen right from the start and we’ve loved every minute of her presence on the MHC team. How lucky we are to have her back again. We are such a friendly bunch here and we love our girls.

Of course, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t start off with one of Melinda’s AMAZING creations, which always take my breath away. As will this one…her gorgeous new little boy is growing so fast! He’s crawling!!! Already!!! Time goes so quick….

Now isn’t this layout just precious as….

Melinda Thompson - March 2014-2 (1024x768)

Products used: Colourwash Double-ups – Jade, Vinettes – jade, Cottage garden, Fairy floss – soft pink, Shades – ivory, Ariel, Capri – gold.

We are so happy to have you back Melinda! (You can see why – wink).

Easter Bunnies

I hope you are all enjoying your Easter and haven’t overloaded too much on chocolate :)

I have my own two very cute Easter bunnies at home who are running around on a chocolate high!

SONY DSC

Products used: Layout Pack Fabulous, Springtime in White, Vines and Ornate Frames Flourish in White

SONY DSC

When I was adding my flowers to the Vine, I found two Springtime flowers were a bit too big for the cluster. So I removed the bottom two petals of one of my flowers to create a smaller version that balanced everything perfectly:

A little bit of Gesso softens all the colours and helps them blend together on the page:

If you are travelling please be safe and enjoy this special time of the year. Happy Easter!

Easter inspiration and more with Karen

Hi everyone,

I am so very happy to be back on board here at Manor House Creations. I have had a few medical issues over the past 12 months, and ended up having to have spinal surgery in August last year. It has been a long, drawn out recovery, but, finally, now, I can say ‘I’m almost all healed’ and ready to get back into doing what I love.

I have 2 layouts to share with you today. As Easter is just around the corner, I thought Id share with you a cute Easter layout I did recently, featuring some pretty Manor House flowers, along with an adorable photo of my little boy, Jack…

This second layout is a bright, summer inspired layout, again, featuring some photos of my son Jack.

MHC-Karen-Shady-April

I sprayed the white cutie pie flower with a bright orange mist. Manor House flowers take ink so well, ensuring you always have a flower to perfectly match your project.

Easter Cards by Sonia

I love making Easter cards as the vintage feel seems to suit the celebration perfectly! I had a play with some of the gorgeous Manorhouse Creations flowers and Believe Collection papers to create these two cards:

SONY DSC

For the Happy Easter ‘Bunny’ card I used the beautiful ‘Letters from Paris’ flowers that fitted in perfectly with the vintage Bunny image:

SONY DSC

Products used: Flowers - Letters from Paris, Tea Rose in Soft Gold, Springtime in white and Rose Leaves (medium)

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

For my second card I used one of the beautiful Ornate Frames and altered it using heat embossing (see below) to give it a textured finish:

SONY DSC

Products used: Papers – Believe Collection Us Together, Lace, Elements cards. Flowers – Letters from Paris, Tea Rose in Soft Gold, Poetry in Sage, Rose Leaves (Medium). Embellishments – Ornate Frames Flourish in white

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

The butterfly is from the Believe Collection ‘Us Together’ paper. I have used Distress markers in ‘Mowed Lawn’ and ‘Mustard Seed’ along with a water pen to colour the cut out butterfly image.

Now just because the Ornate Frames are made of paper, don’t be afraid to alter them! I heat embossed mine with an antiquing powder to add texture. First cover the frame with embossing ink and then liberally cover with the powder:

SONY DSC

Shake off the excess powder and use a heat gun to heat emboss. Just remember that you are working with paper so keep the gun moving and don’t let the paper get too hot:

SONY DSC

Once the frame has cooled down, use a mixture of inks to add to the vintage feel of the frame – I used a mixture of brown, black and gold.

Happy Easter creating everyone :)
