Step x step ‘Rose buds’ by Karen

Hello everyone,

Its Karen here today to share with you a quick and easy little idea I had to make your own rose buds. I have used the ‘Frosty wild rose’ for my card, but you are able to adapt this technique to any of the larger MHC flowers.

Step 1. Using wire cutters, trim the wire from the back of the flower. Remove the bottom 2 layers from the wild rose flower, keeping the 2 stuck together ( be careful so as not to tear it)

Step 2. Cut the flower in half

Step 3. Run a fine line of liquid glue along the bottom edge of the flower

Step 4. Roll the flower up, like a cone, as shown below, and set aside to dry.

Step 5. Cut a small piece of gypsophilia from the Frosty wild rose stem. Add a small amount of liquid glue to the centre of your rose bud, and add the gypsophilia to the centre of the bud.

Thanks for calling in, and I hope you enjoyed my little step by step ‘Rose buds’

Karen xx

A wintery bird house

Today, we have something vey special to share with you. Our very talented Nerrida has been working her magic, and has created this floral masterpiece. This beautiful birdhouse features lots of Manor House Creations flowers, along with The Scrapcakes  ‘My private hapiness’ collection. Nerrida has added some white acrylic paint to the flowers petals to make the birdhouse look a little more ‘wintery’, but the colours remain pretty and cheerful.

Altered flowers by Jo

Hello, and welcome once again to Manor House Creations blog.

Today we have a very special treat for you from our very own JOANNE BAIN.

Every layout Jo does is beautiful, but this one, I must say is a stand alone layout. The design, the colours, the photo, the whole package. Jo has also been very creative with her flowers here.

This is what she had to say

“I have pulled away the backing layer petals leaving only the top layer petal of some of the SPRINKLES flowers to allow for a smaller petite flower. I re-coloured the CUTIE PIES using some white paint to fit with my colour theme. The FANTASY flower has been used as the base for my flower cluster”

Flowers Used -  Fantasy – Magic,  Sprinkles – Lime,  Sprinkles – Mauve , Cutie Pies – Lime.

Thankyou so much Jo for sharing your wonderful creation with us.

Meet our new DT Co-ordinator

Hi everyone!  We have a wonderful announcement to make today. Please join us in welcoming  the newest addition to our Design Team.

 KAREN SHADY

We are thrilled to have her join our team, not only as a Designer, but also as our DT CO-ORDINATOR!

Yes, that’s right, the lovely Karen will be taking over from Nerrida, as Co-ordinator, as Nerrida becomes more involved with the management of Manor House, training new staff and designing all those divine flowers, now that it is growing at a such a rapid pace.

SO, lets introduce Karen:

‘Hi fellow Manor House Creations fans,

I am extremely excited and very honoured to have been asked to join this group of amazingly talented designers, and also, to have been asked to take over from Nerrida as the Design Team Co-ordinator, they are big shoes to fill, and I hope I can do half as good a job as Nerrida has.

I am a Mum to five children, ranging in age from 21 to my youngest who has just turned 4. Together with my husband Chris, we own and run a large cropping farm in a lovely little corner of western Victoria, Australia. I love the country life, and am very happy that my children are growing up here.

I have been scrapbooking for well over ten years, and am completely obsessed. I love everything about the process. My scrapping style has evolved and changed a lot over the years, and is still changing. I suppose if I had to give it a name, I would say “shabby chic vintage” I love flowers and bling, and am especially fond of creating my own embellishments. I also have whats verging on an ‘unhealthy addiction’ to dies and punches. I love the world of online scrapbook galleries, blogs and forums, and have met some wonderful women online, who I now consider to be very dear friends.

I am very fortunate to be on some amazing design teams, which includes 2 magazines, “Scrapbook magazine UK” and “Australian Scrapbook Ideas ‘here in Australia.

A big thankyou to Manor House Creations for giving me this opportunity. I am honoured to be working alongside such an inspirational group of people’.

Don’t you LOVE the stunning colour combination.

Please help us to make her feel welcome!

Introducing Mahlin Wiggur

Mahlin was asked to join the team as one of our video educators. She has a wonderful arty style and great use of colours.  We are thrilled to introduce Mahlin with her very first MHC video class. Please take the time to sit back and watch Mahlin at work. I personally get so much enjoyment out of watching her creative process. Its inspirational!

Mahlin, this is me, the girl who, by day is an ordinary 30yr old mother to Vilmer 3 yrs, working as a specialeds teacher for kids with Asperger and Autism… but then.. at night… I turn into that scrappy girl, who plays with color until floors, walls and ceiling all have some splashes of color. Happy colors. I work with playfulness, I love colors, and texture and clusters of flowers. I will follow the creative process where it takes me. No right or wrong. I let my feeling do the talking when creating and I always choose my photo last.

I just WANT one of these flowers!

Welcome Mahlin!

Introducing Ria

Ria was asked to join our team because her style is quite different to the other DT members, being more of a clean & simple style, which is perfect for some of the ScrapCake Collections, but also to show you how to use flowers when your style is not so ‘flowery’.

Ria Mojica

I am Ria Mojica from Manila, Philippines and I am thrilled to be part of Manor House Creations’ Design Team. I have been married to my very supportive husband, Buddy, for almost 12 years and we have 3 kids – Luis (11 yrs), Nadya (9 yrs) and Bianca (6 yrs). I started scrapbooking in 2003 and have been hooked ever since. I started scrapbooking to document my family life, but have found that it has given me back so much more in terms of finding wonderful friends and a sense of fulfillment. I describe my style as simple with a kick, but I’m willing to try anything to see how it can fit in with my style. I am lucky to be part of several design teams and have been published in a few magazines and books. I look forward to working with Manor House Creations products and team.

Introducing Yukiko

Yukiko was asked to join our team because of her beautiful use of flowers and love of fussy cutting.

Hi, my name is Yukiko Ochi.
I live in Kanagawa, JAPAN with my husband and two girls (2 and 4 years old). I started my scrapbook life just before my second baby was born.
I love scrapbooking and beautiful flowers. I have always been inspired by those stunning patterns. I especially love to use my scissors which really opened my eyes and brought my scrapbooking style to another level. As you can tell from my works, most of them are created with cutout from paper patterns and embellished by flowers in 3-dimension. I hope to share with you more in the coming term, hope you will like them!

Taking this opportunity to thank giving me this great chance to meet and work with this talented team, I am really looking forward to it.
Thank you once again for having me here!
