A bit of Puppy Love – Beautiful You Collection

The new Beautiful You Collection from Manor House Creations is absolutely beautiful and stole my heart as soon as I saw it! I thought the gorgeous mix of soft pinks and yellows would be perfect for this photo of Alex and our new puppy Tyson. I’ve used the ‘In My Thoughts’ paper which has a soft pink reverse side which I used to layer under my photo:

Beautiful you - In my thoughts

Products used: Papers – Beautiful You ‘In My Thoughts’. Flowers – Oh So Pretty Pink Mix, Country Roses Lemon, Layout Pack Natural (large yellow flower) and Light Green Leaves. Embellishments – Felt Doilies Country Estate, Wood Elements Flower Buttons and Heart Buttons, Cotton Tags and Chipboard Words Beautiful You (Love)

A little dab of Gesso on the Wood Elements helps them blend with the colour tones on the page:

The new Cotton Tags are a fabulous way to add texture to your page:

The layout actually uses two pieces of the In My Thoughts paper. One as the background and the other sheet has been cut up to add dimension and texture to the page. First I cut out the floral images I required which were placed on the top left hand side of the photo. Next I cut different size pieces of the reverse side of the paper to create the base of my photo. The first layer was then covered with Gesso and painted using Twinkling H2O’s. A larger piece of the paper was then used as the matt for my photo.

Happy creating :)

Thoughts Wandering Cards by Melinda Thompson

Posted on

Hi there everyone,

I am back today to share with you all some sweet cards I created using the gorgeous Manor House Creations “Thoughts Wandering” paper range as well as their beautiful flowers.  I haven’t added any sentiments to the card as I will wait until they need to be used :)

For this card I have used cut some strips from the “Beautiful” paper and added some Silks Acrylic Paint in Ginger Flower to the background along with some water to spread it out.  Then I added my layers. How super pretty is that gorgeous pink lace flower!

Products Used:

Thoughts Wandering Papers
Vinette – Chestnut
Ornate Frame
French Lace (Pink)
Gelato – Cherry
Country Roses – Cerise

Oh I love the chipboard bike with that cute heart shaped seat…just adorable, I couldn’t wait to use it! I have painted the bike in Silks Acrylic Glaze in Iridescent Gold and then touched it up in places with some more Silks Acylic Glaze in Solar Gold as well as some glitter.  I have also used in my background a Nouveae White feature frame which I have added some gorgeous Twinkling H20′s to it for a water coloured effect.

Products Used:

Thoughts Wandering Papers
Nouveae White Feature Frame
Gelato Cherry
Cuties Pies – Orange
Thoughts Wandering Blossoms
Wooden Elements – Bicycle

This was a super quick card featuring two different frames layering one on top of the other. After I added my base papers I got the first frame which is the Botanical Frame, spritzed with some Shimmerz in Pink Stilettos and immediately turned it over onto some paper towel and pressed it down. Then I added the second ornate frame and just added some glitter to the border of it.  I also ripped the end of the Denim Rosette and let it naturally curl for a shabby look.

Thoughts Wandering Papers
Botanical White Feature Frame
Ornate Frame
Country Roses – Azure Blue
Denim Rosette

Thanks so much for stopping by today :)

Family – Thoughts Wandering Collection

Hi , Sonia posting here today using the amazing Thoughts Wandering collection. One of the promises we made our girls is that when we moved house we would get a puppy. Well he is here and boy has he made his presence felt in a very short time! The girls have just fallen in love with Tyson and it’s fabulous to see a strong bond developing between them already. It might even give me an excuse to try more boyish pages!  For this layout I’ve used the reverse side of the ‘Postcards’ paper. Don’t forget to check out the reverse sides of all of the Manor House Creations papers as they are just a fabulous as the ‘fronts’!!

Thoughts Wandering – Masculine LO by Cathy Cafun

Posted on

Hi Everyone,

Cathy here, sharing a LO created with the beautiful new “Thoughts Wandering”  collection.  As these papers lend themselves to either masculine or feminine projects, I decided to create a masculine LO, instead of my usual girly pages.

Take Me Away

I love this photo of my husband enjoying a day at the beach fishing, and thought it would be perfect for the beautiful seaside inspired papers from this collection.

MHC - Take Me Away - blog

The background was created using the beige side of the Postcards pp and framed with the blue side of the Beautiful pp.  I used various mixed media techniques to alter the background in blue and brown tones to tie in with the colours from the papers.

With various sized circular punches I punched out some circles from a few of the other papers from the collection to frame my photo and also used a couple of the diecuts from the elements sheet.

The words on the Take Me Away pp were perfect for my title.  I just fussy cut around them and attached them with foam tape.  I even managed to tuck in an imagine flower in blueberry in amongst my layers.  The oatmeal and brown imagine flowers are also a perfect match for this collection.

Inspiration from Melinda

As some of you may know I am on the Creative Team at Flying Unicorn.  Flying Unicorn are major sponsors to the challenge site – CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration! So for the month of May the Creative Team have been invited to be Special Detectives. I was given this Case File No. and couldn’t wait to add lots of MH flowers to my layout.

The Case File looks like this:

My take on this challenge :

“Hello Little One”

Sigh…I am still scrapping birth photos of my little boy from 8 months ago…wonder if I will ever catch up!

I am using a mixture of papers here…some really old Sass for my base paper, Maggie Holmes Crate paper and Jodie Lee Prima papers.

Lots of gorgeous flowers from Manor House which have all been altered in different ways and the “Love” Chipboard is from 2Crafty which I have covered in a few different colours from Shimmerz.

My Testimony….I used the Inspiration word “Wish” as a stepping point for my journalling.  Don’t you just love the new “Felt Doilies”.. I have used a gorgeous pink one from the Beautiful You Collection as part of my layers behind my photo.

Evidence:  Butterflies, Flowers (of course!) Swirls, Watercolour Effect, Bokeh Effect on Photo & Tiny Brads

‘Thoughts Wandering’ with Trudi Harrison

  Hi Lovely People,

Trudi with you today sharing something created from the THOUGHTS WANDERING collection where the emphasis is on ‘beautiful’.

MHC_June 2014_Sweet Beautiful You

The larger design element was first fussy cut from the the ‘Sail Away’ patterned paper and then popped aside.  It was later tucked in along the bottom of the photo.

To create the base of the layout – The ‘Postcards’ paper was trimmed and then affixed over the top (lighter side up) of the Sail Away paper. Before attaching add a little distressing to the edges.

Some background altering was added with a 12 x 12 mask and Lindy Stamp Gang sprays. When dry, a little white Gesso was randomly swiped over the top of the misting.

MHC_June 2014_Sweet Beautiful You. Detail 2

Corners of the photo were framed with rose elements trimmed from Rosette Ornate Frames. Clusters of coordinating blooms from the Thoughts Wandering Mix were added along with a few flowers from Oh So Pretty Packs – Blue, Buttercup and Pink and Country Roses. The pink flower was misted with Plum Glimmer Mist. A pop of colour was added to the buttercup blooms with Dylusions Pure Sunshine Ink Spray and a few Beetroot Country Roses.

Beautiful You Chipboard Words add a touch of sweet sentiment.
