Welcome back to one of our favourites!

Yes its a wonderful WELCOME BACK to one of our favourite designers.

* * *

We are so excited to have her back! I think she was probably our mixed media queen right from the start and we’ve loved every minute of her presence on the MHC team. How lucky we are to have her back again. We are such a friendly bunch here and we love our girls.

Of course, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t start off with one of Melinda’s AMAZING creations, which always take my breath away. As will this one…her gorgeous new little boy is growing so fast! He’s crawling!!! Already!!! Time goes so quick….

Now isn’t this layout just precious as….

Melinda Thompson - March 2014-2 (1024x768)

Products used: Colourwash Double-ups – Jade, Vinettes – jade, Cottage garden, Fairy floss – soft pink, Shades – ivory, Ariel, Capri – gold.

We are so happy to have you back Melinda! (You can see why – wink).

Easter Bunnies

I hope you are all enjoying your Easter and haven’t overloaded too much on chocolate :)

I have my own two very cute Easter bunnies at home who are running around on a chocolate high!

Products used: Layout Pack Fabulous, Springtime in White, Vines and Ornate Frames Flourish in White

When I was adding my flowers to the Vine, I found two Springtime flowers were a bit too big for the cluster. So I removed the bottom two petals of one of my flowers to create a smaller version that balanced everything perfectly:

A little bit of Gesso softens all the colours and helps them blend together on the page:

If you are travelling please be safe and enjoy this special time of the year. Happy Easter!

Easter inspiration and more with Karen

Hi everyone,

I am so very happy to be back on board here at Manor House Creations. I have had a few medical issues over the past 12 months, and ended up having to have spinal surgery in August last year. It has been a long, drawn out recovery, but, finally, now, I can say ‘I’m almost all healed’ and ready to get back into doing what I love.

I have 2 layouts to share with you today. As Easter is just around the corner, I thought Id share with you a cute Easter layout I did recently, featuring some pretty Manor House flowers, along with an adorable photo of my little boy, Jack…

MHC Products used:

Gelato – blueberry, Springtime – mauve, Mini Blush roses – soft gold.

This second layout is a bright, summer inspired layout, again, featuring some photos of my son Jack.

I sprayed the white cutie pie flower with a bright orange mist. Manor House flowers take ink so well, ensuring you always have a flower to perfectly match your project.

A beautiful Friendship by Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone!

Trudi here with you today sharing the creative process for a little background altering.

So grab a sheet of ‘neutral’ patterned paper, a few of your favourite ink sprays, a 12 x 12 mask or two, some gesso, impasto or texture paste, and a texture stamp with ink and let the fun begin!

I have used the MHC Believe paper ‘Make Believe’ for the base of my project. A little tip I have found to be helpful is to reinforce the patterned paper with a 12 x 12 piece of chipboard/greyboard or sturdy piece of cardstock. This helps with stopping the paper from ‘buckling’ when the media is applied.

Believe - Make Believe BEL-04 web

Position a 12 x 12 mask ( I used Kaisercraft Chevron) over the paper and spray randomly over the top with black colour spray ( I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine).

Carefully remove the mask and allow the masked area to dry.

Apply some white gesso over the top. I applied with a stiff piece of cardboard and swiped it over. Try pushing the cardboard up and down into the applied paint to add a bit of texture. Allow to dry.

Add some extra masked detail – I used a Twiddleybitz Dots Stencil and Impasto Paste.

Now add some colour with some ink sprays – I spritzed over the top with Dylusions Cherry Pie and then Heidi Swapp Mustard Color Shine.  Another little tip is to let each colour dry before adding the next.

Here is what my background now looks like:

Background effect 1

I also added some random stamping over the top – I used a Kaisercraft Texture Diamonds Clear Stamp with Black pigment ink.

Background effect 2

I built on this by adding some fussy cut floral elements from Graphic 45 12 Days Of Christmas ‘Rose’ paper, Twiddleybitz chipboard and of course some Manor House Creations blooming beauties:

Floral clusters were created with Cinnamon Colourwash, Concerto, Minuette, Blueberry Imagine, Tweeny Weenies Roses, Petite Rose and Red flowers from the Belle Layout Pack.

Petals were separated from the large colourwash flower and layered underneath the smaller blooms. White roses were spritzed with Lindy Stamp Gang Flat Fabio – Kissin’ Kenickie Coral with the petal tips dabbed with metallic gold paint.

New 7 Dots Studio

My goodness did I do a happy dance when I saw the announcement that Manorhouse Creations were going to be carrying the gorgeous 7 Dots Studio! If you haven’t seen the new ranges you can pop over to the Manorhouse Creations website and start drooling here!

I had a play with the beautiful 7 Dots Studio Messy Head ‘What Wood U Say‘ which has this divine woodgrain finish:

Products used: 7 Dots Studio Messy Head ‘What Wood U Say’ and ‘Love Letter’ (used in strips under the photo). Manorhouse Creations flowers Colourwash Double Ups in Soft Pink, Letters From Paris, Floral Mix Melissa and Krystal, Razzles in Purple. Embellishments Ornate Frame Scallop in White.

Adding a little bit of Gesso to the flowers just helps the colours  of your flowers and other embellishments blend together.

The 7 Dots Studio Messy Head ‘Love Letter’ had a gorgeous vintage / distressed feel to it that all styles of scrapbookers are going to love!

Products used: 7 Dots Studio Messy Head ‘Love Letter’ and ‘Little Thoughts’. Manorhouse Creations flowers Ooh La La, Believe Blossom Mix and Leaves in Light Green. Embellishments Ornate Frame Flourish in Black.

The ‘When you’re around…’ saying has been cut from the Messy Head ‘Little Thoughts’ paper and then mounted with foam tape for dimension:

As you can see the range works equally well with vintage colours as it does with soft pretty ones. Enjoy creating with this fabulous new range!
