Step x Step with Trudi

Hi Everyone,

I had so much fun putting together my layout for you today.  We are going to try our hand at a little  misting, some fussy cutting and of course adding some Manor House floral beauty.

The instructions follow for recreating my layout

‘Be Happy’

Layout 'Be Happy' by Trudi Harrison

I have incorporated the following

Materials

Manor House Creations:  Idyllic -Pink, Apple Blossoms- White, Wishes – Serenity, Winters Song – Embers  The ScrapCake : My Private Happiness- The most beautiful moments,  7 x 12 Creative Dreams

Other: Cardstock – White, Glimmer Mists – Pink Bubblegum, Pink Taffy, Turquoise Blue, Masks – Doily & Chevron, Collections Butterflies, Twine, Ribbon, Kaisercraft  rub- ons

* * *

Instructions:

Position a doily mask on the white cardstock and mist with Pink Bubblegum.  If you do not have a doily mask, a paper doily will also do the job nicely.

Step by Step #1

Add Turquoise Blue mist randomly – I also used a chevron mask for this.  If you don’t have a mask, try adding some stamped elements with a background stamp with turquoise blue ink or just lightly misting will also be fine.

Step by Ste #2

Cut out the circle elements from the My Private Happiness 7” x 12” patterned paper ‘Creative Dreams’. Attach so that the pattern runs vertically.

Step by Step #3

Separate the petals from the Winters Song bloom – I have used the deep salmon pink one from the Embers pack.

Position and attach.

Position and attach the Serenity Wishes bloom so that it slightly overlaps the previously attached flower.

Make a ribbon bow and tuck between the 2 flowers. Attach this also.

Step by Step #4

Now at this point you can add your photo, title and journaling and call the job done.  Or you can take it a step further.

Adding more details:

Mist 3 Pink Idyllic blooms with Pink Taffy – we are aiming for a concentrated covering.

Mist 3 White Apple Blossoms with Turquoise Blue – very lightly, we are aiming for more of a ‘splotchy’ look.

Mist 2 White Apple Blossoms with Pink Taffy – very lightly also.

Step by Step #5

Add 2 of the darker pink blooms and 1 each of the other altered flowers around the previously attached flowers.

Step by Step #6

Position and attach 1 each of the altered flowers on the opposite bottom corner of the photo.

Attach the last altered flower slightly up from the larger floral cluster.

Cut out some circular elements from the ‘The most beautiful moments’ paper. Position and attach – add couple around the main cluster and the smaller cluster.  I also added some of the border from this paper around the edge of the page – you may also like to do the same.

Step by Step #7

Add a few butterflies, a little twisted twine, a sentiment rub on and you are now done.

Happy Creating!

DT Inspiration featuring ‘The Scrap Cake’

Hello, and welcome once again to our blog.

Today, we are excited to share with you some wonderful creations from our Design team, featuring the papers from The Scrap cake. Notice how perfectly our flowers match the colours of these papers.

Firstly, Karola has mixed a couple of different paper collections together, and created this wonderful, spring inspired layout of her daughter.

Products used: MHC flowers, Fantasy wishes & fairy dust, Fairy floss – lemon, Country lane lemon, Taneisha.

The Scrap cake papers: Spring awakening and My private happiness.

Next Alicia Barry has focused on the apricot tones in the The Scrap cake ‘Sweet childhood’ collection.

Alicia says ‘It can be hard to create layouts with boy’s in the photos using flowers. To achieve this, I used an orange and green colour combination. This coupled with the checked pattern in the Scrapcake papers gave it a boyish feel, which were then perfectly complimented with the ManorHouse Creations flowers’.

‘Love, cherish, adore’ Layout by Alicia Barry

Products used: MHC flowers,  Solitude, Idyllic - Oatmeal, Imagine - oatmeal, Leaves, Nikita, Christmas Star – snow, Petitie roses - orange, TSC Sweet childhood collection.

Next, Gwen has created this beautiful bright, summery layout about her best friend. She has chosen a mix of ‘Sweet childhood’ and ‘Summer city’ papers.Notice the hint of gesso to the tips of orange Jubilee flowers.

A shaped card from Nerrida

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great day! Over at The ScrapCake we are doing some work on a theme about shaped cards this month, so here is my creation.

I used a piece of packaging from a Pink Paislee product, traced around it and then machine stitched around the edge. I created the card front with pink cardstock as my base, using the ‘My Private Happiness’ papers, and then securing it all down using 3D foam to attach it all.

Products used:

Idyllic – pink, Apple Blossoms, Taneisha, Sprinkles – lime, Petite Roses – marshmellow.

Designer inspiration

Good morning crafty friends,

Two of our designers, Nerrida, and Jeni, are here today to share with us their wonderful girly layouts.

Nerrida has created a soft, pretty pastel layout of her daughter. She has combined The Scrapcake ‘My private happiness’ paper collection with lots of beautiful MHC flowers. She has misted the background of her layout, which adds to the soft, feminine feel.

Products used: MHC flowers: Meringue, Plain Jane, Fairy floss – mixed, TSC My Private Happiness.

Jeni has chosen to use bold, strong colours for her layout of her daughter, but she has still managed to maintain the feminine feel.

Here Jeni shares some clever tips, ‘Some of my favourite flowers from the Winter collection are the Petite Roses.  These sweet little flowers just seem to compliment any page. They were a perfect fit with the Pink Paislee papers. I love to create depth with my flowers and always touch them up with inks, chalks or paints. First I applied a little chalk to the centres using a q-tip, then added a little paint to highlight the middle and outer edges of the petals. I finished them off with a touch of sparkle using burgandy Ranger stickles’.

“Follow Your Heart” Layout by Jeni O’Connor.

Products: Petite Roses – cream, Fairy Floss, Frosted – wild orchid.

She has created an inviting little garden scene, featuring some stunning Manor House Creations flowers, and The Scrapcake ‘My private happiness’ papers.

Nerrida sprayed the background of the canvas with a pretty mix of shimmers inks, also available from MHC.

A TSC kitchen share

Hi everyone! As you know, we are the Australian & New Zealand distributors for The ScrapCake. So we love to share some of the projects that Nerrida does for her Scrapcake Design Team position. Today, she has shared with us this gorgeous shopping list idea. I’d love this hanging on my fridge!

Lots of fussy-cutting here…

and some gorgeous MHC flowers….

It’s such a simple idea but brightens up any kitchen fridge. Nerrida just used an old shopping list and took the backing board off it, covered it and re-used the magnets off the back. How easy is that? You could give it a go.

Hope you enjoyed this inspiration and please remember to send your OTPs and layout in to designteam@manorhousecreations.com for us to share!
