DT Inspiration featuring ‘The Scrap Cake’

Hello, and welcome once again to our blog.

Today, we are excited to share with you some wonderful creations from our Design team, featuring the papers from The Scrap cake. Notice how perfectly our flowers match the colours of these papers.

Firstly, Karola has mixed a couple of different paper collections together, and created this wonderful, spring inspired layout of her daughter.

Next Alicia Barry has focused on the apricot tones in the The Scrap cake ‘Sweet childhood’ collection.

Alicia says ‘It can be hard to create layouts with boy’s in the photos using flowers. To achieve this, I used an orange and green colour combination. This coupled with the checked pattern in the Scrapcake papers gave it a boyish feel, which were then perfectly complimented with the ManorHouse Creations flowers’.

‘Love, cherish, adore’ Layout by Alicia Barry

Products used: MHC flowers,  Solitude, Idyllic – Oatmeal, Imagine – oatmeal, Leaves, Nikita, Christmas Star – snow, Petitie roses – orange, TSC Sweet childhood collection.

Introducing Lene Neby

Lene was chosen for her bold style and use of colour and detailed embellishing.  We are very pleased to have her on board.

My name is Lene Neby and I’m 37 years old. I live in Hamar, Norway with my husband Knut and our 5 children ( 3 boys and 2 girls).
When I don’t drive my children to activities and practise, I love to scrapbook – that’s my passion!  I have always been a crafty person, but I really got addicted to scrapbooking in 2007 when I was home with our youngest daughter. You will probably see pictures of our 2 girls on my layouts.  The boys in my familiy tend to flee when they see me with a camera.  I love the creative process from taking the picture, to finding the right paper and embellishemt to match it ! For me this is therapeutic ! I often use a lof of embellishments and I’m totally addicted to details.

Introducing Yukiko

Yukiko was asked to join our team because of her beautiful use of flowers and love of fussy cutting.

Hi, my name is Yukiko Ochi.
I live in Kanagawa, JAPAN with my husband and two girls (2 and 4 years old). I started my scrapbook life just before my second baby was born.
I love scrapbooking and beautiful flowers. I have always been inspired by those stunning patterns. I especially love to use my scissors which really opened my eyes and brought my scrapbooking style to another level. As you can tell from my works, most of them are created with cutout from paper patterns and embellished by flowers in 3-dimension. I hope to share with you more in the coming term, hope you will like them!
Taking this opportunity to thank giving me this great chance to meet and work with this talented team, I am really looking forward to it.
Thank you once again for having me here!

Spring awakening birthday card – step x step

Linda has made this pretty little card using the TSC Springtime papers. Here, she shows you step x step, how to make it.

Hi Linda here. I have had lots of fun layering these beautiful papers to create interest on this feminine birthday card.

2 pieces of Spring Awakening SA H03 patterned paper 12” x 7”

Cream cardstock

Manorhouse Creations Cottage Garden Bird Song Flower

Manorhouse Creations medium leaves x 3

Ranger Distress Ink – Antique Linen

Sponge Dauber

Cream Seam Binding

Memento London Fog Ink

Birthday Sentiment Stamp – mine is from Stamp-It Set sis046

Kaisercraft Pearls

Distressing Tool

Craft Knife

Small fine tipped scissors

Adhesives – double sided tape and foam dots.

Step 1 – Gather together the above mentioned supplies for your card.

Step 2 – Cut 4mm off the long edge of the patterned paper…along the top graph line.

Step 3 – Cut the patterned paper piece so you have the floral accent piece on it, 20cm x 10.5cm.

Step 4 – Cut card base from cream cardstock, score and fold. Ink the edges of card base with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Step 5 – Cut 2 pieces of the blue plaid pattern 10.5cm x 4cm. Ink and distress 3 edges of these pieces and adhere to the sides of the card base.

Step 6 – Trim around the scalloped edge at both ends of the 20cm x 10.5cm piece and distress the scalloped edges.

Step 7 – Using your craft knife trim out the inverted scallop centre of the floral motif and mark the top of this piece with pencil. (To help when stamping sentiment later).

Step 8 – Fussy cut the top layer of the flower arrangement.

Step 9 – Add foam dots to back of scallop edge layer and adhere to card base.

Step 10 – Add foam dots to fussy cut piece and adhere to card base. Lift up the leaves for added dimension.

Step 11 – Stamp the sentiment on the inverted scallop circle piece. Ink the edges of the sentiment piece and adhere to the centre of the floral motif with foam dots.

Step 12 – Adhere 3 leaves, a messy seam binding bow and a Cottage Garden Bird Song Flower.

Step 13 – Add a row of pearls below your sentiment and a cluster of pearls to the top right of your card.

Step 14 – Pop your finished card in a DL size envelope and send off to a dear friend to make their day.

Introducing Joanne (AKA Jo)

Joanne was chosen to be on the Design Team because of her bold designs, often using white backgrounds and gorgeous use of lots of  flowers.

Joanne Bain

My name is Joanne but my friends call me Jo. I am a very proud mother of 2 (the best kids in the world I am slightly bias) and I am happily married to my best friend and have been for the last 17 years. He is the best husband a girl could ask for and is very supportive of my scrapbooking. We live in sunny Queensland on the northern side of Brisbane along with our 2 dogs and more pet birds then I can count. I have been a scrapbooker for at least 11 years and I would say I am slightly addicted to this craft…lol. I have also tried my hand at digital designing and scrapbooking but I missed the touch and feel of paper so I am now back to paper scrapping again and I might say LOVING IT!!!
