Anything is Possible – Layout by Cathy Cafun

Posted on

Hi Everyone,

As some of you may know, I am on the Design Team for Colour Stories Inspiration (CSI).  This week’s Color Stories Inspiration Challenge 137 was such a pretty colour palette, I just couldn’t resist adding some Manor House flowers to my layout.  Here is my interpretation of the challenge.

Anything is Possible

MHC Anything is Possible - CSI rs

CSI 137

I have used one of the Colourwash Doubleups in soft pink as the base for my flower cluster, then layered with some yellow Sunflowers and white Minuettes from the pink mix pack.  The sunflowers were altered by pulling out the stamens and replacing with crochet doiles and a brad.  I also added a crochet doily to the double up flower which I pulled apart using the larger flower and keeping the centre flower for another project.

True Beauty – LO by Cathy Cafun

Hi everyone, I have a LO to share which was inspired by the gorgeous indigo flower from the Layout Pack – Fabulous.

True Beauty Lies Within

Blog MHC - True Beauty

I was playing around with flowers from my MHC stash and loved the contrast of the jade green vinette with the large indigo flower.  I created some flower clusters with these 2 vibrant flowers and softened them with a few white minuette blossoms and the blue and white Ashlee flower to blend in with my mixed media background.

I pulled apart one of the indigo flowers to create 2 flowers for my smaller side clusters, then adhered some recycled bling jewellery to the centres.

To tie in with my diecut background I cut the ends off an oval cheval frame and tucked them under my photo.

Kit Instructions coming soon..

HI everyone.  Just a quick note to say that not all kits we have sold at the show include instructions (which is reflected in the price of the kit), however we hope to put instructions up here (with a link in the sidebar under KITS,  for some of them very soon. Having only 6 days to prepare for the show, saying we were pressed for time is an understatement! (LOL) so the kits were a bit of a rush.

My Minds Eye – TODAY kit instructions.

Stayed tuned and thanks for your patience.

All Natural Beauty LO by Cathy

Hi Everyone,

Cathy here, with a LO to share using the gorgeous new Beautiful You Collection.  I love this collection as it so soft and feminine and a perfect range if you are into fussy cutting some of your elements.

To create this LO I started with the reverse side of the Beautiful You-Fresh and New pp as my background which I altered with various mixed media techniques and washi tape accents.

MHC blog - All Natural Beauty

I love to fussy cut my pp’s to create elements.  Here I used the Beautiful You-So You paper, cutting out some of the beautiful rose accents and attaching them with foam dots to give them dimension.  I layered them under the new wooden garden gate embellishment.  I cut the gate into 2 parts to frame my photo and altered the pieces by coating with gesso, then randomly applying aged embossing enamel and a few splashes of glimmer mist.  Once dry I lightly stamped over the gates with a script stamp.

The country roses fit in perfectly with this range of pp’s.  To make them go further, I love to pull them apart into 2 sections which makes a lovely blossom and a sweet rose bud.

There is a title word on the Beautiful You-So You pp which I cut out and trimmed down from the word Beautiful to Beauty, to become part of my “All Natural Beauty” title.  I layered this with one of the new ornate frames – elegance white, which I cut in half lengthways.

The Beautiful You-Journal Sheet is so versatile.  The journal labels are a great to add journalling to your LO’s as well as being the perfect size for cardmaking.  I have used the pretty little butterfly label to frame my title words.

Wandering Thoughts LO by Cathy Cafun

Posted on

Hi Everyone,

Hi everyone, Cathy here.  Today I am sharing a LO created with the new Wandering Thoughts collection, teamed with some of the gorgeous new flowers and frames.

The Most Beautiful View

MHC Blog - Most Beautiful View

To create this LO I decided to alter the reverse side of the Wandering Thoughts-Journal pp with a coat of watered down gesso to soften the purple colour into a mauve.  I then added a coat of gesso with a sponge diagonally across the paper.  Once dry, I used texture paste to mask over the gesso with a doily stencil, then misted and inked over the masking to define the doily pattern.

I totally adore the MHC ornate frames, and was very excited to find a bunch of new designs in my parcel of goodies.  On this LO I used the Ornate Frames-elegance white which I cut down into 2 sections.  I misted the floral section and added some pearls to become part of my main flower cluster, then used the frame section for my title.  I randomly stamped the frame with turquoise ink and a lace stamp, then backed the frame with Wandering Thoughts-Beautiful pp.  To tie in with my main flower cluster, I embellished the frame with one of the new turquoise country roses and a Wandering Thoughts blossom in the denim colour. Using gesso to soften bolder colours to pastels is a great way to alter your flowers.  I used this technique on the denim blossom to give it a colourwashed look by lightly brushing with a little gesso.

The lovely frame around my photo was cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I tucked the floral misted section of my frame down one side and used some of the new flowers to create a pretty cluster, which I embellished with a bling and pearl flourish and floral diecut sprigs.

A card set with Nadia

Good morning!
Here is a card set I created using some gorgeous Donna Salazar Designs paper, chipboard and mist. I also added some gorgeous flowers from Manor House Creations. This is a soft and romantic set , which I drew inspiration from the dictionary paper from the Mix’d Media Stax 2 from Donna Salazar Designs. The beautiful soft colours of the Manor House Creations fitted just perfectly with the theme I had going.
I started both cards by applying Mix’d Media Stax papers on the base and covering with white gesso
I then applied the Want2Scrap Hearts stencil and embossing paste and sprayed some Smooch Spritz Artsy mist
I then layered some Want2Scrap Corrugated cardboard, Manor House Creations flowers and other embellishments .

Materials List
