Using leaves on a layout.

Hello!  Today we have a post for you with something a bit different. we are featuring leaves… to use leaves on your layout and these 2 clever ladies form our Design team have 2 amazing and very original ideas. Take a look….

This first, somewhat amusing, layout, comes from Nancy. Hasn’t she made this look terrific with layers of leaves.

So clever for a ‘male’ layout and she used them form a branch.

Layout by Nancy Winter,

Uses: Rose leaves, Vine.

Using flowers on male layouts.

Hello again…hope you are having  creative day.  Today we have a fabulous share for you from our talented new Educator – Elena Olinevich. She is a master at mixed media projects and she knows exactly what to do when its comes to using flowers on male-orientated projects. take aSONY DSC look at these.

As you can see, Elena likes to add just a few flowers to each layout, often giving them the mixed media treatment, with touches of blue, grey, green & brown.

This one even has a touch of mauve – the trick is to make them blend by adding the colours that feature in your layout. They don’t have to be ‘feminine’ looking, they can be grungy, altered, even scrunched up a little. It all add to the over-all appeal of the layout.

This one, appropriately, has some brighter colours, which is a great idea when you have children also in the photos, but again, the flowers are scrunched, altered and use those similar ‘male’ tones.

We’d love to see more of your male layouts and projects with flowers on them. Please send them in to us at and we’ll show them here on our blog.

Educator – Elena Olinevich

Hi again and welcome. Today we are more than happy to announce that our regular DT member, Elena Olinevich, has climbed the ranks to MHC Educator and we are thrilled to have her take on this role.

Elena is a master at mixed media and teaches classes in Belarus, where she lives. We hope one day she will be able to come to Australia too!

So lets’ get the ball rolling by showing you just one of her class project – a canvas, that she taught recently.

Elena always does such ana amzing job with altering her flowers and making them looks grungy, yet still beautiful and intruging. IMG_6543

MHC products used: Idyllic – oatmeal, Apple blossoms, Solitude.

Stay tuned for more from Elena.

Our new Card accessories

So our new collection is OUT! YAY! And we love some of our new accessories and hope you will too. These were born from idea that the owner of MHC had for embellishments that she couldn’t buy on the market…So she decided to make them and share them with the world. Take a look…

Ornate frames

Sentiment banners

And here’s some gorgeous and very complete looking card using the elements.

This first card uses the CHEVAL ORNATE FRAME, cut in half and added to either side of the tags, then finished off with a sentiment banner which you can shape, bend, pop-out and even colour!

This regal wedding card looks amazing with the new GOOSE FEATHERS as well as the OVAL FRAME and a SENTIMEN BANNER.

Another pretty card perfect for yes…Mothers day! It features the CHEVAL FRAME again and the THANKYOU banner.

A soft and stunning card suitable  for wedding or new baby. This one  uses both the CHEVAL and OVAL frames placed on top of each other with 3D foam dots – what a stunning effect!

This frame had been altered by spraying it gold and notice the gorgeous HEART LACE, also available from MHC. WOW!

Finally, another pretty card, perfect for Mothers Day using our THINKING OF YOU banner.

The Look

This layout was created for Scrapbooking Memories magazine, where Heather is currently working as a Scrapbooking Memories Master. She was asked to complete a layout featuring older style pepars in her stash. The gorgeous black ‘Party time’ flower, helps to modernize her layout, and give it a funky look, perfect for the cool photo of her daughter.

‘Effortlessly beautiful’ with Karen Shady

Hi everyone, and a big warm welcome to our blog today.

I have had this frame sitting in my cupboard for a long time, not really knowing what I wanted to do with it. Then I got a new photo of my daughter, that I thought made her look very lady like.  She is a farm girl through and through, and these photos of her all dressed up are few and far between, as you can tell by the other 2 photos Ive used, lol, so I made the most of the photo, and created this very feminine, vintage style frame. I am really happy with how it turned out

* * *

I cut up an old vine I had lying around, and adhered some of the gorgeous peach coloured mini roses to it.

The beautiful, soft folds of the ‘Ruffles’ flower was the perfect addition here

I inked a white ‘Idyllic’ flower using an apricot coloured spray ink to match the colours in my project

Guest designer – Helen Tilbury

It is with the utmost pleasure that we welcome the incredibly talented

as our guest designer.

‘Hi there!  My name is Helen Tilbury & you can find my blog at, where I blog under the name of SCRAP ADDICT.

I’ve been scrapbooking for 9 years now, online for 4 and creating things for my whole life!  I live in Durban, South Africa, with my husband, 4 kids

& 3 cats.  It’s challenging being a busy crafter here as I have to buy 90% of what I use online and import it myself but that’s a whole other fun side

to this creative life.  I’m on various Design Teams right now, Les Papiers de Pandore paper & stamp manufacturer from France, My Creative Scrapbook

Kit Club in America, Purple Pumpkin Embellishment manufacturer in Australia, Berry71Bleu tags on Etsy, Scrap Friends online store in Brisbane &

Scrapmatts chipboard team, also based in Australia.  I spend my mornings creating, blogging & working in my studio and my afternoons in my car

taking & fetching kids from their extra lessons and school activities, with a lot of waiting in between.  Thank Goodness for mobile phones & e mail!

I do a lot of that from my car!!  Thanks so much for having me here at Manor House Creations.  I’m a complete flower junkie & love adding

them to many of my layouts, not just the ones with girls in them!  Flowers are versatile & I love the dimension they add not to mention the shabby touch’.

Here are a few of Helens stunning creations, all featuring a wonderful selection of Manor House Creations flowers

Helen has an incredible talent for making our flowers look amazing, even on the most masculine of pages.

Helen is just as at home creating flowery, feminine pieces

The ‘winters song – coffee’ flower takes centre stage on this wonderful layout.

And again, the Winters song flower, this time ‘Cyan’ makes a stunning addition to Helens layout.

We would like to thank Helen for sharing her wonderful creations with us. Her work has been an inspiration to many scrapbookers, both in Australia and overseas. We hope she has inspired you today.
