3 Shabby Chic Cards by Cathy Cafun

Posted on

Hi ladies, Cathy here,

I have a set of 3 cards which were created a little while ago, but was unable to share until now as they were published with Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft Magazine.

I thought I would show you how you can make a few quick and easy cards with a 6″ paper pad and product from the Manor House Creations.

Here are 3 cards I created, using MHC Flowers, Ornate Frames and Flexible Words.

Love You Forever

On this card I altered the blossoms to give them more dimension by pinching the centre back of the flower between your fingers.  Place a little bit of tape at the back of the flower to hold the pinched section, then top with a pearl, bead or brad.

The large white flower was altered by lightly inking the edges of the petals, then backing with distressed mesh ribbon for a shabby chic feel.

All these cards are made by our resident card maker – Gwen Wruck. So quick and easy to do – often ‘simple’ looks so elegant.

Feature frames & DIY wedding invitations

Hello again. Today we wanted to show you one of our fabulous new products called FEATURE FRAMES which may now be in your local store.

These frames come in 4 designs and were designed with both scrappers and card-makers in mind and they are totally versatile. Today we’ll focus on the card-makers and show you a few ideas on how to make either your own Wedding invitations OR how to make a card for a wedding you may need to attach to a wedding gift. Hand-made cards are always so much more precious.

This first card is fairly straight forward and uses the NOUVEAU feature frame as a background. All these cards are made on Twiddleybitz card packs which we stock.

Papers: Country Estate – New Day

Embellishments: Nouveau Feature frames, Wood Elements – hearts.

This next cards actually has a slide-off centre piece (with the rose and ribbon attached) so you can slide it off to reveal the opening invitation. Really quick and easy to do once you have a template, you just mass produce them.

(Please note, this card does not use Twiddleybitz card bases but is the same size)

And this card also uses the Romantique feature frame but this time it’s placed over the top of a piece of aqua cardstock to really make the pattern stand out & give it a small elegant border. The gold bow just adds that extra special glamorous touch.

And this final card adds a touch of glamour in another way, by misting the feature frame with some gold glimmermist – we used Apple. These feature frames can be altered by colour so easily! Again this card has a slide-off piece to reveal the invitation inside.
