Easter Cards by Sonia

I love making Easter cards as the vintage feel seems to suit the celebration perfectly! I had a play with some of the gorgeous Manorhouse Creations flowers and Believe Collection papers to create these two cards:

For the Happy Easter ‘Bunny’ card I used the beautiful ‘Letters from Paris’ flowers that fitted in perfectly with the vintage Bunny image:

Products used: Flowers - Letters from Paris, Tea Rose in Soft Gold, Springtime in white and Rose Leaves (medium)

For my second card I used one of the beautiful Ornate Frames and altered it using heat embossing (see below) to give it a textured finish:

Products used: Papers – Believe Collection Us Together, Lace, Elements cards. Flowers – Letters from Paris, Tea Rose in Soft Gold, Poetry in Sage, Rose Leaves (Medium). Embellishments – Ornate Frames Flourish in white

The butterfly is from the Believe Collection ‘Us Together’ paper. I have used Distress markers in ‘Mowed Lawn’ and ‘Mustard Seed’ along with a water pen to colour the cut out butterfly image.

Now just because the Ornate Frames are made of paper, don’t be afraid to alter them! I heat embossed mine with an antiquing powder to add texture. First cover the frame with embossing ink and then liberally cover with the powder:

Shake off the excess powder and use a heat gun to heat emboss. Just remember that you are working with paper so keep the gun moving and don’t let the paper get too hot:

Once the frame has cooled down, use a mixture of inks to add to the vintage feel of the frame – I used a mixture of brown, black and gold.

Happy Easter creating everyone :)

A card tutorial from Elena

After cleaning my table I always find some leftovers and scraps that are worth to be saved for the next projects.
So here is an easy tutorial on creating pretty card just using everything left on your table.
CardMainElena
I collected some paper scraps, fabric strip and the pink flowers I didn’t use, I added the other one.
CardTutorialSupplies
1. Add some collage work on your background with the scrap papers, fabric, lace trims.
CardTutorial2
2. Cover everything with gesso, then mist some parts with your favorite colors.
CardTutorial3
4. I added a big flower, made of feathers and threads. Fascinating Mocha, I brushed it with gesso in one direction, so the feathers are collected in one.
CardTutorial4
5. Also I colored the feathers too with gesso, added some burgundy petals. Remove the center from the Fairy floss – soft pink , put it in to the middle of the feathers , and the other part just hide under the big flower.
  add some embellishments.
CardCloseUp1
And here you go with an elegant card.
