Have you seen our larger flower ranges, fallen in love with them, bought them, got them home, and then had no idea what to do with them? If thats the case, then this is the post for you. Our larger style flowers are truly stunning, they have so much detail, and really are works of art, but, some scrappers struggle with knowing how to use them on their craft projects. So, we asked our designers to create some projects, with the focus on using the larger flowers in our collection, to give you some inspiration, and hopefully get you using more of these larger beauties.

TIP: One large flower can be added to the centre of your layout, as seen on Melinda’s page below. Then other smaller flowers can be scattered around the page – anything from one to many works well.
Here, our talented ‘Lady of the house’, Melinda has created this stunning layout, featuring our beautiful Winters song – Snow Bird flower in blue. Firstly she has used some Shimmers spray inks on the flowers for that something extra. Next she’s added some string, and other embellishments around her large central flower , making it the star of the show and forming an arrangement on her page. Notice that it doesn’t take away from the photo, because the photo is underlined with lace and misting that compliment the flower.
TIP: Always compliment your large flowers by using co-ordinating embellishments around it.
TIP: Offset one large flower with a smaller one tucked just behind.
TIP: Scatter smaller co-ordinating flowers around your page.

Using the big flower to one side of the photo, as seen on Karen’s page, can also work beautifully. You can build on the large flower by clustering smaller blooms around them, also adding leaves and embellishments around it.
TIP: Working in 3′s or 4′s always looks good – 1 large flower, then surround it with 3 or 4 smaller flowers.
Again here you can see that Karen has scattered a coordinating flower on another part of the page.

TIP: Add a large flower to the bottom or top corner of the page, and accentuate it with other large flowers, either MHC blooms or fussy cut flowers as Ria has done below.
Ria has balanced out the heaviness of the bottom corner by adding similar, larger sized flowers to the opposite corner

As you can see, using larger flowers on your projects isnt so hard after all, and the results are wonderful. We hope we have inspired you to pull out those gorgeous big blooms, and use them to create beautiful projects of your own.
Have you noticed, a lot of our new ‘winter release’ flowers are just 5cm in size? They still retain the beautiful detail that Manor House Creations is renowned for, but the smaller size makes them just perfect for making cards. Below, Nerrida, Linda and Jeni show you some examples of some of our smaller flowers in action.

Hi, it’s Jeni here with you today to show you a unique way to add Manor House flowers to your layouts by creating your own beautiful, handcrafted floral vines. You’ll be surprised at how easy they are to make and what a gorgeous embellishment they are for your pages.
Following is a list of the supplies you’ll need.
Supplies:
Manor House Creations flowers and leaves- 3 Whimsy flowers (from the Winter 2012 Collection), 3 large leaves, 2 small leaves.
Other: Florist wire – fine, Florist tape, adhesive.
Tools: Small pliers, wooden stick or tool for shaping wire.

Here’s the fabulous vine you’ll create.
These lovely Whimsy flowers from the new Winter collection make a stunning vine. You can easily divide them to make smaller flowers and buds.
I’ve used just three Whimsy flowers, with three large leaves and two small.
Creating a flower bud.
Here I removed the outer layers of the Whimsy flower, using the base layer of petals to create this smaller budding flower.
Products: Whimsy- cream, leaves large and small.

Jeni says, ‘I wanted to create a holiday scene for my card so I cut the lilac Rosette in half to make it appear as though water surrounds the beach huts. Then some white paint was added to give the look of seafoam on the breaking waves’

Two of our designers, Nerrida, and Jeni, are here today to share with us their wonderful girly layouts.
Nerrida has created a soft, pretty pastel layout of her daughter. She has combined The Scrapcake ‘My private happiness’ paper collection with lots of beautiful MHC flowers. She has misted the background of her layout, which adds to the soft, feminine feel.

Jeni has chosen to use bold, strong colours for her layout of her daughter, but she has still managed to maintain the feminine feel.
Here Jeni shares some clever tips, ‘Some of my favourite flowers from the Winter collection are the Petite Roses. These sweet little flowers just seem to compliment any page. They were a perfect fit with the Pink Paislee papers. I love to create depth with my flowers and always touch them up with inks, chalks or paints. First I applied a little chalk to the centres using a q-tip, then added a little paint to highlight the middle and outer edges of the petals. I finished them off with a touch of sparkle using burgandy Ranger stickles’.

Winter is upon us here in Australia, and boy, dont we know it.
Im not really a winter person, and much prefer the warmer months, but I do love snowy, wintery photos, and often wish we got more snow here in Australia, simply for the photo opportunities it offers.
Our design team were asked to create a winter layout, featuring the colours BLUE AND WHITE. These colours would have to be my favourite way to scrap wintery photos. And our talented designers have outdone themselves with these snowy, wintery wonders.

She says: ‘I adore blue and white winter layouts, its a bit difficult here in Australia to get those gorgeous white snowy photos, as we dont get much snow here, but Ive scrapped a cute photo of my son Jack, when he was just 2. He loves to be outside playing more than anything, and in the winter months, on those freezing cold days when he couldnt go out, he would sit at the window, wishing he could be outside. I absolutely adore the new release flower for Manor House Creations. The WINTER SONG collection are just perfect for this style of layout, they look like they have snow on them, you have to see them to believe them, they are my favourite flowers ever!’.
