Altered money box

Just when you thought you’d seen everything, along comes the ever-talented Joanne Bain with an altered glass money box…..and isn’t it stunning!

Here’s what Jo said about this inspired creation:

I picked this up at a homewares closing down sale. I loved the big frog on the side and decided to alter it and make it even more beautiful.  I scraped away some of the silver glitter on the capri roses and painted with gesso to make them more of a whitish silver. I pulled some of the layers away from the petite roses to make some of them a little smaller and also added a splash of Shimmerz to the tips.  Hope you like.

Welcome BECK BEATTIE!

We are thrilled to announce, that due to our lovely Erin Blegen having to leave our MHC DT due to family commitments, we needed some new and fresh talent to come on board…AND…we’ve found her!

 Beck 2012 400

Please welcome Beck Beattie to our Design team! We are so so happy to have her and wait till you see the creations she’s working on…here’s a taste and a little about Beck so you can get to know her.

* * *

Although my name is Rebecca most know me simply as Beck. I am married to a wonderful husband that is very supportive of my craft and we have two beautiful boys aged 2 and 3.5 years old that keep me on my toes.

My scrapbooking love includes layouts to off the page projects, and cards as well.   At the moment though, I would say that I am really enjoying creating layouts and the stories behind them.  Having boys after developing quite a feminine style really challenged my style, and it is something I thoroughly love.  Whilst I still have a bit of a vintage and sometimes Shabby Chic style (whenever there is a female in the photo), I also have quite a detailed and slightly grungy style mainly tailored to my male layouts.  I just LOVE to add layer upon layer and add in many different elements into my projects and having the pleasure of working with different products which makes this all the more achievable.  I enjoy the challenge of trying different styles and techniques, whilst always tailoring a layout to suit the subject or photo I am Scrapbooking.

I have been fortunate to work on a number of different design teams as well as behind the scenes with some of the leading brands as well.  My biggest achievement would have to be being named Scrapbooking Memories Master this year along with 9 other very talented ladies.  It has always been so wonderful to meet new people as well, and this has definitely opened the doors to many great friendships all over Australia and the world.  I now couldn’t imagine my life without this craft in it.

I am really looking forward to this time on the Manor House Creations Design team and working alongside so many talented artists!

A TSC kitchen share

Hi everyone! As you know, we are the Australian & New Zealand distributors for The ScrapCake. So we love to share some of the projects that Nerrida does for her Scrapcake Design Team position. Today, she has shared with us this gorgeous shopping list idea. I’d love this hanging on my fridge!

Lots of fussy-cutting here…

and some gorgeous MHC flowers….

It’s such a simple idea but brightens up any kitchen fridge. Nerrida just used an old shopping list and took the backing board off it, covered it and re-used the magnets off the back. How easy is that? You could give it a go.

Hope you enjoyed this inspiration and please remember to send your OTPs and layout in to designteam@manorhousecreations.com for us to share!

Posted on

We’re here again to celebrate May, the month of flowers. We want to spread some floral beauty around the world. Throughout May we’re sponsoring the team at Flying Unicorn in their Flower Fantasy celebrations.

http://flyingunicornforums.com/photos.html

From the Flying Unicorn, “The Flying Unicorn is a US based online scrapbook store and kit club that not only carries many of the products you know and love, but also specializes in one of a kind, hard to find papers and products.”

“Manor House has joined with The Flying Unicorn to host a Flower Fantasy during the entire month of May and each week we’ll be posting a challenge in the Flying Unicorn Forums featuring flowers, lots of flowers!  Our creative team and the Manor House creative team will share example projects to inspire your creativity and get you going on the challenges.  Every week a winner will be randomly selected from the challenge entries to win a RAK of Manor House flowers!  How cool is that?”

Gifts and cards for Mum

Hello everyone,

As promised, we have some more great gift and card ideas for Mother’s day. Our design team have been hard at work to bring you some wonderful ideas.

First up, Its Karen, with this lovely card.

‘I wanted to use the ‘Frosted wild rose’ for my card, as it matched my papers perfectly, accept the flower was a little big for where I wanted to use it. So I removed the bottom 2 layers, and made them into ‘rose buds’. I will be giving a step by step tutorial on the blog soon to show how I made them.

Heres a few close-ups of my buds.

MHC flowers used: Frosted wild rose, rose leaves-medium.

April Guest Designer – TRUDI HARRISON

We are thrilled to have the amazingly talented Trudi Harrison grace us with her talent this month and as she is also a Design Member of The Scrapcake, she has her very first project to share with us using some of the papers and, of course, some Manor House flowers, on this gorgeous little dressform. Just take a look…

* * *

Hi, Trudi here with a little altered project to share with you all.

It is currently Autumn or ‘Fall’ for our OS friends here at the moment.   The colours of the leaves about my place are glorious and I have taken some colour inspiration from them for my following project.

I have combined patterned papers from The ScrapCake ‘One Moment In Time’ collection with some gorgeous Manor House Creations blooms to come up with this little altered wire dress form.

Some leaves have been die cut from patterned paper– I used  Spellbinder dies for these.  The leaves were distressed and given a light coating of ‘Diamond Dust’ along with a quick spritz of Tattered Angels Patina Glimmer Mist before being arranged and attached around the top of the skirt.

A bodice was created from patterned papers.

And a corsage has been created from the following Manor House Creations flowers.

The flowers were altered with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to coordinate

Some Coffee Shop and then a touch of Candy Apple Red for the Wishes Hope bloom.

Yellow blooms from the Taneisha pack were also altered with Coffee Shop.

A sweet Fairy Floss bloom from the mixed pack finishes the back detail off perfectly. Again the bloom was altered with some Coffee Shop and then a touch of Candy Apple Red glimmer mists to coordinate.
