Scrapbooking is a craft that brings our world just a little closer. It’s wonderful to see Manor House Creations reaching out and finding scrappers around the globe. Today we feature scrapbookers all the way from Norway. The scrappers from the north have such a wonderfully distinctive, arty style.

The Scandinavian inspirational website  http://andrinemaren.blogspot.com recently featured work from their Design Team using some of our Manor House flowers.

Silje Holm sent us this lovely layout honouring her father. She says, “On the layout you find pictures of my dad, and the words “Min helt” translates to My hero.” She used Shimmerz paints – Coloringz, to create her background.

Cards to Inspire

Posted on

It’s a special card feature today for all the card makers looking to incorporate some beautiful Manor House flowers into their work.

*****

First up is Design Team member, Joanne Bain, who has created this gorgeous card with such a soft textured flow to it. Here she expains the techniques she used. “I am not really one for the really bright in your face colours I prefer a very subtle colour toning.  I used Angel Wings shimmerz to the dress form as I wanted to keep the natural look to the chipboard. I used Shimmeringz Babys Breathe to add a very slight shimmer to the Manor House flowers.”

A video class with Jeni

Posted on

Welcome to Manor House Creations on youtube! It’s Jeni here and I thought for something a little different I’d make a video of my photo wallet gift created using Manor House products. First, Let me first tell you a little about the making of this video.

If you’re like me and don’t like your own voice on tape, that’s the first big hurdle when making a video. I don’t really sound like that do I? As always, it seems the first run through is always the best. But it’s not a good look when your dh who’s taping has your feet showing in the frame. lol What was he thinking! So you continue undaunted.

Eight goes later, after the neighbours’ dogs had a fight, the phone rang, the kids called loudly that you were ignoring their hunger, you stumble over your words, your dh sneezes, you call a bone folder a boning knife… you laugh at the absurdity and you finally finish! LOL.

I hope you enjoy my video and have a fun time creating your own photo wallet. It makes a great gift to keep all those little pics.

Watch “Manor House Creations” on YouTube here.

 Here are few photos too.

This week brings the creative spotlight onto the world of tags.  Aren’t tags such wonderfully versatile art pieces. They can be used as a card, they’re great for journalling on a scrapbooking layout, or just as an embellishment for your page. I know you’ll enjoy the collective creative works from Manor House’s Linda Langes and the team from Flying Unicorn.

First up are two from the lovely Linda Langes. Her first tag is soft and pretty with a touch of bling, in the light pinks and blues and greens.

Here are Frank’s fabulous tags. His first one is in the striking masculine tones of yellow and brown. He has spritz the blooms to match perfectly.

Tag by Frank Garcia

Frank says, “Working with Manor House flowers has been a complete fun experience. These flowers are so versatile and great to ink, mist and distress. For the first tag I misted some of the wonderful Plain Jane flowers as well as a gorgeous Shimmers in snow with some gold glimmer mist, its amazing how well these lovely flowers absorb color, so amazing!”

Product: Plain Jane, Shimmers.

Frank’s second tag, using soft colours of pinks and purple has a gentle ethereal feel to it.

From Frank,” For my second tag I used a more purple color palette with some darker colors, so to add a bit of pop I used some of the beautiful sprinkles flowers in pink and a gorgeous Country Lane flower in purple, really beautiful flowers indeed!”

Maggi Harding http://scraptravelbark.blogspot.ca/ PR Director from Flying Unicorn, has created two beautiful tags for this week’s challenge. Her first one, is so fresh and light in stunning lime elements.

“Joy” tag by Maggi Harding

From Maggi, “I’ve had a real garden in my scraproom this month with all the beautiful Manor House flowers I received! On this first tag I used the sweet Sprinkles flower in lime, they are the perfect size for tags and go perfectly with the Scrapcake My Private Happiness collection that I chose.  It’s a simple pocket tag, I just fussy cut the scalloped edge and attached that to a tag I cut from another paper making a pocket to hold one of the precut tags in the collection.  The smaller tag is the perfect size to hold a gift card and slip into the pocket.”

Products: Sprinkles- lime.  The Scrap Cake: My Private Happiness.

Maggi’s second tag is truly inspirational. I just adore the way she has incorporated the stamped images with her pp and matched her Manor House flowers so beautifully.

Tag by Maggi Harding.

Maggi says, “I also used the Sprinkles flowers on my 2nd tag but this time I dyed them black and copper using alcohol ink so that the flowers would match my papers. The fun thing for me about this tag is that I stamped and embossed the Chinese characters that you see and they spell my given name, Margaret. I was named after an aunt and she traveled to China and brought back this stamp.”

Product: Sprinkles (misted)

From the Flying Unicorn Creative team, “Thank you Manor House for sharing your beautiful blooms with the Creative Team at the Flying Unicorn!”

*****
We want to thank Alda and the Creative Team from Flying Unicorn for their wonderful creations using Manor House products throughout the month of May and for sharing their inspirational talent. Manor House Sponsors The Color Room

Posted on

This month Manor House joins the team at The Color Room. For the month of April, Manor House Creations are proud to support The Color Room. Some of our design team are guests for the weekly colour palettes.

The Color Room is a challenge site started by a group of well-known scrappers who “strive to push your creativity through new inspiring colour palettes, sketches and tutorials.”

http://thecolorroom.ning.com/

Joanne BAIN and Monika MARTINSON are joining this week’s palette #105

First up a stunning, masculine layout from JOANNE BAIN.  Jo has created the most gorgeous central cluster of flowers and ribbon. She also misted some of the Sprinkles to compliment the colour palette. Providing fabulous use of white space allows Joanne’s display to shine.

Joanne explains her creative process, “I have used the Fantasy Moonlight Flower as the base for my cluster. I thinned both the blue and yellow Sprinkles to create a less full flower and then spritzed the yellow Sprinkles with Decadence glimmermist to create a yellowish-brown flower, to compliment my page and to make them a little bit more boyish.”

MHC Products used: Sprinkles, Fantasy moonlight, Rose leaves.

* * *

MONIKA MARTINSON has created a lovely layout using soft, subtle tones of blues and browns, perfect for the theme of her page about coming out of the winter into the beginnings of the Northern Spring. She has given gentle highlights to her page by adding in some lemon Fairy Floss.

MHC Products used: Fairy Floss –  lemon, Christmas Angelic.

Step by Step layout from Gerry

Hello everyone!

It`s Gerry here today with my step x step layout for March. I chose working with beautiful spring colors. “My Private Happiness” collection combined with gorgeous new MHC flowers makes the perfect combination.

And this is my layout that I`m going to show you how to create. You understand it`ll be a long post today so please take your time :-)

Flowers I used:

STEP 1
Love creating on white card stock because it gives me a lot of possibilities to play with the background. In this case I chose two colors paint. The yellow was misted but as you can see I have only tiny splashes of  blue here and there . And I added splashes of yellow as well.

STEP 2

One of the pattern papers in “My Private Happiness” has a beautiful lattice. Well I couldn`t just “leave” it and I decided to fussy cut it and use it on my background.

STEP 3

In the middle of the layout I masked those bricks with modeling paste. When it was dry I noticed I didn`t achieve the dimension I wanted so I decided to add something more…..and I added puffy paint.

N.B. Before I added the puffy paint I outlined the “bricks” with black fine liner.

If you look carefully the photo half of the masking is only with modeling paste and the other half is with puffy paint. I took that photo especially to show you the difference :-)

STEP 4

  • Firstly, I distressed the edges of the card stock.
  • Secondly, I cut out flourish from the pattern paper.
  • I also cut out strips from the pattern paper so I can frame “my bricks”
  • Then I placed my two photos on the left side just to see how it`d look like
  • I was satisfied and I attached  1. the “frame” 2. the photos and 3. the flourish

STEP 5

  • Before I began with the flowers I used punched border to decorate both the flourish above and my photos.
  • I adhered the title “Easter” on the punched border.
  • Now it was time to use one of the big flowers (“Frosting”) – I needed the pink one so I tore/cut it in parts.
  • Just for your information what I tried to create with those punched borders was little balconies :-) with flowers and eggs peeking out of the balcony.

All the petals were used to decorate the cut-out flourishes.

STEP 6

Now it`s time for the colorful Sprinkles. I chose 6 flowers in total

  •  Three to decorate this cute basket (on the right side of the photos) and three for the left side of the photos.
  • N.B. The yellow flower on the right and the green on the left side were cut into two!!!

STEP 7

  • The yellow and green halves I used to decorate my other cute basket.
  • I also added the Cutie Pie flower in the middle.
  • Then I adhered the year “2011″

STEP 8

As a final touch to the flowers I added one more Cutie Pie flower on the very left side.

STEP 9

My last step was to add some cut out embellishments – bird, swirls, etc.

I hope you enjoyed my Step by Step layout this month. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Thank you!
