We have a very special treat for you today. Our talented designer Melinda has created a step by step tutorial, giving us a behind the scenes look at how she goes about creating one of her wonderful layouts.
‘Hello everyone, it’s Melinda here and I am very excited to share with you a very simple Step x Step on how I created this layout for The color room.
Step 1……
I almost always use a little misting on my backgrounds. So with this gorgeous rich colour palette I decided to go with some TA Walnut Gold, one of my favourite colours, and just randomly spray around the page. At about the centre of the page I gave a few good spritz’s in the one area and lifted my page and let some of the mist run down.
Step 2….
I fussy cut around some flowers on some Hambly transparency and just placed them on the page.
Step 3….
Next I got my chipboard clock along with my distress ink (Antique Linen) and gently dabbed some ink over the chipboard to give it more definition.
Step 4….
I placed my chipboard over the top of my Hambly and then started layering and building up my layout with my papers and flowers.
Step 5….
Often with layering on a layout, it is just a matter of getting the balance right. I most always work in a triangle. So here you can see that on my triangle corners I will place my flowers so that it surrounds my photo.
Step 6….
More fussy cutting of some Crate Paper to add further interest to my layout. I just kept placing them on until I was happy with the balance. Once I was happy I added my photo, embellishments and title’.
Products used: Blossoms (altered), Mascarpone (altered), Christmas Star (altered), Enchanted – little princess (white)
We hope you enjoyed Melindas tutorial, and the wonderful layout she created.
